Shaun recently spent 18 months in Denmark under the watchful eye of, arguably the World's foremost trainer, Hasse Hoffmann, training and riding the horses up to Intermediate (Inter 1/2) level.

Shaun was brought up on a fruit farm in the Western Cape of Africa. He started riding at a young age when he found his love for horses at the local riding school owned and run by an inspirational lady, Hilary Pelser, known in the area as a SANEF Level 2 Instructor.

As a teenager Shaun spent much of his time helping youngsters with physical and learning difficulties to gain life skills through horses. His empathy for people and understanding of horses is the foundation from which his career continues to grow.

Shaun arrived in the UK from his native South Africa in 2002. His drive and determination began in eventing.

He has had the privilege of working with some very experienced riders, starting with the Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell. He then went on to work with rider, breeder, selector and Judge, Jane Holderness-Roddam MBE, and also Jenni Loriston Clarke MBE, gaining valuable knowledge and experience from the highest level. Shaun has gained this experience not just by working with some well known coaches, but also by competing to intermediate level nationally within eventing.
